Ethereum Classic (ETC) Mining Calculator
Break-even point (shutdown price)
Mining is unprofitable: ETC needs to rise 28% to break even.
ETC price and your shutdown price
Dashed line — your shutdown price for each day, at that day's network difficulty and block reward.
Over the last year, your shutdown price went from $13.61 to $9.63: network difficulty fell 38%, and in July 2026 the block reward dropped 20%. ETC was below it on 228 days out of 365.
Revenue and costs
| Item | Per day | Per month | Per year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | $0.98 | $29.26 | $356.01 |
| Pool fee | $0.00 | $0.00 | $0.00 |
| Electricity | −$1.25 | −$37.44 | −$455.52 |
| Net profit | −$0.27 | −$8.18 | −$99.51 |
| Mined, ETC | 0.13 | 3.89 | 47.3 |
A month is 30 days and a year is 365 days at today's network difficulty and price; difficulty growth is not included.
Ethereum Classic (ETC) mining: profitability
Ethereum Classic is the largest network on the Etchash algorithm. The calculator shows how much ETC your device mines, what the electricity costs and at what coin price mining stops covering your power bill.
What the shutdown price means for ETC
The shutdown price is the ETC price at which the coins you mine are worth exactly what you pay for electricity. If the market price falls below it, mining runs at a loss.
Unlike Bitcoin, ETC difficulty changes with every block, so the ETC shutdown price moves faster too. The calculator takes difficulty, network hashrate and block time from our server, where they update every 5 minutes, and the ETC price from an exchange.
FAQ
How is ETC mining different from Bitcoin?
Bitcoin is mined only with SHA-256 ASICs. ETC can technically be mined on both GPUs and Etchash ASICs, but ASICs run the network: they are many times more efficient, and at a typical electricity rate a GPU mines at a loss. The calculator shows how profitable your device is at your rate — for a GPU, pick “Custom device”.
How often does ETC network difficulty change?
With every block, roughly every 13 seconds: that's how the network keeps block time around 13 seconds. Current difficulty is 2.24 P. The calculator takes it from our server, where data updates every 5 minutes. The history is on the ETC difficulty page.
What is the DAG and which GPU do I need for ETC?
The DAG is a dataset a GPU keeps in memory when mining Etchash. Since 2020 it grows by 8 MB every 60,000 blocks, roughly every 9 days, and is now about 4.3 GB. The GPU must fit all of it: cards with 6 GB of memory or more will do. But that's only the technical requirement: at a typical electricity rate a GPU mines ETC at a loss.
How do I calculate real profit?
Enter your device's hashrate, its power draw in watts and your electricity rate. The calculator subtracts electricity from revenue and shows net profit per day, month and year, plus the shutdown price.
How is ETC different from Ethereum?
ETC kept Proof-of-Work and since 2020 runs on Etchash, a modified Ethash. Ethereum moved to Proof-of-Stake in 2022 and can no longer be mined.
