Bitcoin hashrate chart

Since 2009, network hashrate has grown to 1,066 EH/s (7-day average). The daily record is 1,306 EH/s (Oct 25, 2025).

Hashrate and difficulty

When hashrate rises, blocks come faster than every 10 minutes, and difficulty goes up at the next adjustment; when it falls, difficulty goes down. ASIC shutdown prices move with difficulty.

Bitcoin hashrate FAQ

What is Bitcoin network hashrate?

The combined computing power of all miners: how many hashes per second the network tries while searching for the next block. The higher the hashrate, the more expensive an attack on the network.

What is hashrate measured in?

Hashes per second. TH/s is a trillion hashes, PH/s is a thousand TH/s, EH/s is a million TH/s. One modern ASIC delivers hundreds of TH/s; the whole network — 1,073 EH/s.

How is network hashrate calculated?

It can't be seen directly: it is estimated from difficulty and how fast blocks are found. So the daily estimate can jump by a few percent — the trend is better read over a week or a month.

How is hashrate related to difficulty?

When hashrate rises, blocks come faster than every 10 minutes, and difficulty goes up at the next adjustment. When it falls, difficulty goes down. The adjustment forecast is on the network difficulty page.

How does hashrate affect miner revenue?

A miner's share of the output is their hashrate divided by the network hashrate. If the network grows 10%, after the difficulty adjustment the same ASIC mines about that much less. See your device's revenue in the mining calculator.

Why does hashrate grow?

Miners plug in new, more efficient ASICs, and a rising bitcoin price makes it worthwhile to run more machines. When the price falls, old machines are switched off and hashrate drops.
